Welcome to the Electro-Voice wing in the Messaround collection of vintage mics. It's still under construction, but that's not due to procrastination: it's because there are too many EV mics in the archives.
The Electro-Voice company has been around since the late 1920s and has put out a number of microphones with innovative technological features. They haven't been all too innovative when it comes to design, but some of the E-V mics are nonetheless pleasing to the eye.
One of the founding fathers of the company - a guy by the name of Al Kahn - is credited with the invention of the humbucking coil. This made it possible to use microphones in close proximity to their power supply. One of the first mcirophones to be equipped with this innovation was the Electro-Voice V-1 ribbon microphone shown on these pages.
